Led package with integrated feautres for gas or liquid cooling

A light emitting structure, comprising:

• one or more light emitting elements;
• a metallic substrate, comprising:
• a heat dissipating element defining a plurality of openings, the heat dissipating element comprising a surface on which the one or more light emitting elements are situated;
• a plurality of conductor elements situated within the openings so that the heat dissipating element surrounds and is physically separate from the conductor elements;
• and
• an end pad physically separated from the heat dissipating element and positioned at an edge of the heat dissipating element, the end pad and the conductor elements being electrically isolated from the heat dissipating element, the end pad and the one or more light emitting elements being electrically connected by the conductor elements.

A light emitting structure comprising:

• a plurality of heat dissipating elements,
• a plurality of thin elements that couple the heat dissipation elements to each other,
• a plurality of light emitting elements mounted on the heat dissipating elements,
• a plurality of thin conductive elements that couple the light emitting elements to each other, and
• a plurality of support structures that maintain a given physical relationship between each light emitting element and each heat dissipating element,
• the heat dissipating elements extending beyond the support structures in a first orientation, the conductive elements extending beyond the support structures in a second orientation that is different from the first orientation.
