Abstract
A temperature sensor comprises a temperature sensing element, a protective housing, and a heat transfer element. The temperature sensing element transduces a sensed temperature into an electrical output signal. The protective housing at least partly encases the temperature sensing element. The heat transfer element has an outer surface in heat conductive contact with an inner wall of the protective housing and receives at least a part of the temperature sensing element. The heat transfer element is formed separately from the temperature sensing element.
Claims18
A temperature sensor, comprising:
- a temperature sensing element transducing a sensed temperature into an electrical output signal;
- a protective housing at least partly encasing the temperature sensing element;
- and
- a heat transfer element having an outer surface in heat conductive contact with an inner wall of the protective housing and receiving at least a part of the temperature sensing element, the heat transfer element formed separately from the temperature sensing element.
A method for fabricating a temperature sensor, comprising:
- providing a temperature sensing element transducing a sensed temperature into an electrical output signal;
- encasing at least a portion of the temperature sensing element with a protective housing;
- fabricating a heat transfer element as a part separate from the temperature sensing element;
- mounting the temperature sensing element in the heat transfer element;
- and
- assembling the heat transfer element in the protective housing with an outer surface of the heat transfer element in heat conductive contact with an inner wall of the protective housing.
