Abstract
A remote user can specify data collection and processing characteristics of a wireless sensor network. In one example, a configuration station enables a user to activate/deactivate different sensor channels of data to support a delivery of data streams to customers. In another example, a configuration station enables a user to specify reporting intervals for different sensor channels of data. In yet another example, a configuration station enables a user to specify transformation functions for different sensor channels of data. The remote configuration process can be applied to every sensor in every sensor module unit attached to every wireless node at a monitored location.

A system, comprising:
- a plurality of wireless network nodes at a monitored location,
- a first of the plurality of wireless network nodes including a first sensor and a first wireless transceiver, the first sensor connected to a first metering device via first wiring for receipt of first metering signals from the first metering device, and
- a second of the plurality of wireless network nodes including a second sensor and a second wireless transceiver, the second sensor connected to a second metering device via second wiring for receipt of second metering signals from the second metering device;
- a gateway device at the monitored location, the gateway device configured to receive first measurements by the first sensor via first wireless communication with the first of the plurality of wireless network nodes, and to receive second measurements by the second sensor via second wireless communication with the second of the plurality of wireless network nodes;

- one or more servers at a location remote from the monitored location, the one or more servers configured to communicate with the gateway device via a communication network to receive the first measurements and the second measurements, the one or more servers storing a first transformation function in association with a first identifier for a first sensor channel of data associated with the first sensor, and a second transformation function in association with a second identifier for a second sensor channel of data associated with the second sensor, wherein the first transformation function includes a first meter conversion variable applied by the one or more servers to convert the first metering signals to a first metering amount for a transformed first sensor channel of metering data, and storing a second transformation function in association with a second identifier for a second sensor channel of data associated with the second sensor, wherein the second transformation function includes a second meter conversion variable applied by the one or more servers to convert the second metering signals to a second metering amount for a transformed second sensor channel of metering data, the one or more servers further configured to transmit the transformed first sensor channel of data and the transformed second sensor channel of data to a customer.
A system, comprising:
- a database configured to store a first transformation function based on a first meter conversion variable in association with a first identifier for a first sensor channel of data generated by a first sensor in a first wireless network node at a monitored location, the first sensor connected to a first metering device via first wiring for receipt of first metering signals from the first metering device, and a second transformation function based on a second meter conversion variable in association with a second identifier for a second sensor channel of data generated by a second sensor in a second wireless network node at a monitored location, the second sensor connected to a second metering device via second wiring for receipt of second metering signals from the second metering device, wherein the first wireless network node and the second wireless network node communicate with a gateway device at the monitored location via wireless communication;
- and
- one or more servers configured to communicate with the gateway device via a communication network, the one or more servers configured to apply the first meter conversion variable in the first transformation function to convert the first metering signals from the first metering device to a first metering amount to produce a first transformed sensor channel of metering data, and configured to apply the second meter conversion variable in the second transformation function to convert the second metering signals from the second metering device to a second metering amount to produce a second transformed sensor channel of metering data, the one or more servers further configured to transmit the first transformed sensor channel of metering data and the second transformed sensor channel of metering data to a customer.
A method, comprising:
- receiving, by one or more servers, a first specification of a first meter conversion variable for a first sensor in a first wireless network node at a monitored location, and a second specification of a second meter conversion variable for a second sensor in a second wireless network node at the monitored location, wherein first metering signals derived from measurements by the first sensor of a first metering device connected to the first sensor via first wiring and second metering signals derived from measurements by the second sensor of a second metering device connected to the second sensor via second wiring are delivered by the first wireless network node and second wireless network node, respectively, to a gateway device at the monitored location via wireless communication;
