Abstract
Self-learning systems process incoming data from sources such broadcast, cable, or IP-driven television and can discover topics that broadly describe the incoming data in real-time. These topics can be used to gather and store metadata from various metadata sources such as social networks. Using the metadata, content delivery systems working in parallel with the self-learning systems can deliver highly contextualized supplementary content to client applications, such as mobile devices used as “second screen” devices.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- processing, by a computing device, video content to determine a plurality of words associated with the video content;
- determining a topic associated with one or more words of the plurality of words;
- identifying social media trend data related to the topic;
- and
- providing, to a user device presenting the video content, a link to the social media trend data.
A method comprising:
- processing, by a computing device, content to determine a plurality of words associated with the content;
- determining, by processing the plurality of words, a time within the content an entity is mentioned;
- storing an association between the content and the entity;
- accessing social media data from a social media source, wherein the social media data relates to the entity;
- identifying the entity in a portion of the social media data, wherein the entity is referred to in the social media data by an alias of the entity;
- normalizing the alias in the social media data to the entity;
- storing an association between the social media data and the entity;
- providing the content to a user device;
- and
- providing the portion of the social media data to the user device at the time within the content the entity is mentioned.
A system comprising:
- a user device configured to present video content;
- and
- a computing device comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory storing executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to:
- process the video content to determine a plurality of words associated with the video content;
- determine a topic associated with one or more words of the plurality of words;
- identify social media trend data related to the topic;
- and
- provide, to the user device while the user device is presenting the video content, a link to the social media trend data.
A system comprising:
- a user device;
- and
- a computing device comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory storing executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to:
- process content to determine a plurality of words associated with the content;
- determine, by processing the plurality of words, a time within the content an entity is mentioned;
- store an association between the content and the entity;
- access social media data from a social media source, wherein the social media data relates to the entity;
- identify the entity in a portion of the social media data, wherein the entity is referred to in the social media data by an alias of the entity;
- normalize the alias in the social media data to the entity;
- store an association between the social media data and the entity;
- provide the content to the user device;
- and
- provide the portion of the social media data to the user device at the time within the content the entity is mentioned.
