Abstract
Systems, methods, architectures, mechanisms or apparatus for routing packets between source and destination endpoints associated with different autonomous systems without requiring public advertising of the addresses of the source and destination endpoints to other autonomous systems (ASN).
Claims16
A method of routing IPv6 packets at a gateway configured to communicate with a plurality of client devices within a first autonomous system (AS), comprising:
- examining a packet including a header portion having an active Prefix Reduction Option (PRO) type-length-value (TLV) indication and PRO address data comprising a source endpoint (EP-S) address, a source gateway (GW-S) address, a destination endpoint (EP-D) address and a destination gateway (GW-D) address;
- in response to said packet to be routed being received from a client device within said first AS, setting a packet source address to the GW-S address, setting a packet destination address to the GW-D address, and transmitting the packet toward the GW-D.
An apparatus for routing IPv6 packets at a gateway configured to communicate with a plurality of client devices within a first autonomous system (AS), the apparatus comprising:
- a processor configured for:
- examining a packet including a header portion having an active Prefix Reduction Option (PRO) type-length-value (TLV) indication and PRO address data comprising a source endpoint (EP-S) address, a source gateway (GW-S) address, a destination endpoint (EP-D) address and a destination gateway (GW-D) address;
- in response to said packet to be routed being received from a client device within said first AS, setting a packet source address to the GW-S address, setting a packet destination address to the GW-D address, and transmitting the packet toward the GW-D.
A tangible and non-transient computer readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a computer, adapt the operation of the computer to perform a method of routing IPv6 packets at a gateway configured to communicate with a plurality of client devices within a first autonomous system (AS), the method comprising:
- examining a packet including a header portion having an active Prefix Reduction Option (PRO) type-length-value (TLV) indication and PRO address data comprising a source endpoint (EP-S) address, a source gateway (GW-S) address, a destination endpoint (EP-D) address and a destination gateway (GW-D) address;
- in response to said packet to be routed being received from a client device within said first AS, setting a packet source address to the GW-S address, setting a packet destination address to the GW-D address, and transmitting the packet toward the GW-D.
A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions for causing a processor to implement a method of routing IPv6 packets at a gateway configured to communicate with a plurality of client devices within a first autonomous system (AS), the method comprising:
- examining a packet including a header portion having an active Prefix Reduction Option (PRO) type-length-value (TLV) indication and PRO address data comprising a source endpoint (EP-S) address, a source gateway (GW-S) address, a destination endpoint (EP-D) address and a destination gateway (GW-D) address;
- in response to said packet to be routed being received from a client device within said first AS, setting a packet source address to the GW-S address, setting a packet destination address to the GW-D address, and transmitting the packet toward the GW-D.
