Electronic file sharing link granularity

An electronic file sharing system comprising:

• a data store;
• a processor;
• memory coupled to the processor and storing instructions that when executed by the processor, provide electronic file storage relative to the data store;
• the processor being configured to detect a first sharing operation from a first entity to share a selected electronic file with a second entity to allow the second entity to interact with the selected electronic file in a way set by the first entity and wherein the processor is configured to obtain a unique identifier and generate a first sharing link for the second entity to access the selected electronic file in the way set by the first entity using the unique identifier;
• and
• wherein the processor is configured to store information related to the link in a link store.

A method of sharing electronic files, the method comprising:

• storing an electronic file in an electronic file sharing system;
• receiving a request to share the electronic file from a first entity and responsively generating a first sharing link to share the electronic file with a second entity to allow the second entity to interact with the file in a set manner;
• receiving a request to share the electronic file from a third entity and responsively generating a second sharing link to share the electronic file with a fourth entity to allow the fourth entity to interact with the file in the set manner;
• and
• wherein the first and second sharing links are different.
