Abstract
Embodiments disclosed include methods for controlling the behavior of autonomously navigating delivery robots when items cannot be delivered. Methods can include receiving a request to proceed to a delivery location when a robot is at a first location. Attempting to deliver an item at a delivery location. If the robot determines delivery is successful, it autonomously navigates back to the first location. If the robot determines delivery of the item is not successful, it autonomously navigates to another location different from the first location.

- receiving a request to proceed to a delivery location at an autonomously navigating robot, the robot being at a first location;
- attempting to deliver at least one item by the robot autonomously navigating to the delivery location;
- if the robot determines delivery of the at least one item is successful, autonomously navigating to the first location;
- and
- if the robot determines delivery of the at least one item is not successful, autonomously navigating to another location different from the first location.
A method for delivering items with an autonomously navigating robot, comprising:
- at a first location, the robot receiving a request to proceed to a delivery location;
- the robot receiving at least one item;
- the robot attempting to autonomously navigate to the delivery location;
- and
- if the robot determines delivery of the at least one item is not successful,
- the robot returning to a location other than the first location, and
- the robot indicating that the delivery of the at least one item was not successful.
A system, comprising:
- a robot that autonomously navigates to various locations at a site, the robot having a control unit configured to
- locate the robot at first location when not executing tasks,
- receive requests to proceed to a delivery location,
- autonomously navigate to the delivery location,
- determine if a delivery of at least one item at the delivery location is successful, and
