Abstract
Apparatus having a focused transducer and methods of operating a focused transducer downhole in a well can provide high resolution downhole imaging. In various embodiments, a focused transducer is used for imaging downhole in a well in which the imaging is based on a seismoelectric effect. In various embodiments, a focused transducer is used for imaging downhole in a well in which the imaging is based on an electroacoustic effect. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

1-24. (canceled)
A downhole tool for generating high-resolution borehole images, the tool comprising:
- a housing;
- a source carried by the housing, the source capable of generating a probe signal;
- a sensor carried by the housing, the sensor capable of receiving a formation signal;
- and
- an imaging unit coupled to the sensor, the imaging unit capable of generating a high resolution image using the formation signal,
- wherein one of the source or the sensor comprises two dynamically focused transducers, and
- wherein one of the probe signal or the formation signal is an acoustic signal.
A method for generating high-resolution borehole images, the method comprising:
- positioning a source and a sensor within a borehole extending into a formation;
- utilizing at least two dynamically focused transducers to propagate an acoustic probe signal from the source towards the formation;
- utilizing the sensor to sensing a formation signal resulting from the probe signal;
- and
- generating a high resolution image using the formation signal.
A method for generating high-resolution borehole images, the method comprising:
- positioning a source and a sensor within a borehole extending into a formation;
- utilizing the source to propagate a probe signal from the source towards the formation;
- utilizing at least two dynamically focused transducers to sense a formation signal at the sensor, the formation signal resulting from the probe signal;
- and
- generating a high resolution image using the formation signal.
