Abstract
Three-dimensional structures of stably associated mesogenic ligand-functionalized nanoparticles are provided. Compositions that include these structures, as well as methods of making the structures are also provided. The structures, compositions and methods find use in a variety of applications, such as light emitting devices (e.g., video displays, lights, etc.), inks, photonics and encapsulation technologies.
Claims29
A three-dimensional structure of stably associated mesogenic ligand-functionalized nanoparticles.
A composition for producing a three-dimensional structure of stably associated mesogenic ligand-functionalized nanoparticles, the composition comprising:
- mesogenic ligand-functionalized nanoparticles;
- and
- a liquid crystalline liquid.
A method of producing a three-dimensional structure of stably associated mesogenic ligand-functionalized nanoparticles, the method comprising:
- dispersing mesogenic ligand-functionalized nanoparticles in a liquid crystalline liquid;
- and
- inducing a phase transition in the liquid crystalline liquid to produce a three-dimensional structure of stably associated mesogenic ligand-functionalized nanoparticles.
