- applying a polymer material to a tooling component to form carbon fiber precursor hollow tubes;
- oxidizing the carbon fiber precursor hollow tubes;
- and
- carbonizing the carbon fiber hollow tubes to form carbon fibers, each having a hollow inner cavity.
