Abstract
An hydrogel comprising chitosan and two weak bases having different pKb values. In some embodiments, one of the weak bases if sodium hydrogen carbonate (SHC). Also, use of the hydrogel in medical and cosmetic treatments.
Claims39
A chitosan based gel solution which comprises:
- from about 0.2% to about 4% w/v of chitosan;
- from about 0.001 M to about 0.4 M of sodium hydrogen carbonate (SHC);
- a weak base differing from the SHC;
- and
- viable cells dispersed in the chitosan based gel solution;
- wherein immediately after preparation, the chitosan based gel solution is flowable and becomes a gel after a gelation time, the gelation time being temperature dependent.
