Abstract
A reduced-stage feedback-based envelope detector includes, for example, an input rectifier for rectifying a received modulated input signal and an amplifier for receiving the rectified modulated input signal at an input node. The amplifier compares the rectified modulated input signal with a reference signal, filters the rectified modulated input signal at the input node, and generates an envelope detection signal in response to the comparison and the filtering of the rectified modulated input signal. In an embodiment, the gain of the amplifier is independently determined from the bandwidth of the amplifier.
Claims20
A circuit, comprising:
- an input rectifier operable to rectify a received modulated input signal;
- a first transistor operable to receive the rectified modulated input signal and operable to couple current to a feedback node conducting the rectified modulated input signal such that the rectified modulated input signal is filtered at the feedback node;
- and
- a second transistor operable to receive a reference signal, to control an amount of current flowing through the first transistor in response to the reference signal, and to generate an envelope detection signal in response to the amount of current flowing through the first transistor.
The circuit of claim 11, comprising a second current source operable to source a second current coupled to the drains of the third and fourth transistors.
A system, comprising:
