Temperature control apparatus and method for energy storage system

A temperature control apparatus for an energy storage system comprising a case, a battery module provided inside the case, a temperature sensor provided inside the case and spaced apart from the battery module, and an HVAC system, the temperature control apparatus comprising:

• a first communication unit configured to receive first temperature information indicating a temperature of the battery module;
• a second communication unit configured to receive, from the temperature sensor, second temperature information indicating a temperature measured by the temperature sensor;
• and
• a control unit connected with the first communication unit and the second communication unit in an operable manner,
• wherein the controller controls the HVAC system based on the first temperature information while the first temperature information is being received normally, estimates the first temperature information based on the second temperature information while the first temperature information is not being received normally and the second temperature information is being received normally, and controls the HVAC system based on the estimated first temperature information.
