Keyword identification for an enterprise resource planning manager

A method comprising:

• receiving, by a computer, a financial data from a computing device, wherein the financial data includes a plurality of financial entries relating to procurement of goods, services, materials and/or items;
• cleansing, by the computer, the plurality of financial entries by removing unnecessary information contained within each of the plurality of financial entries, wherein the unnecessary information includes numeric characters, special characters other than alphabetic characters, abbreviations, stop words, and combinations thereof, wherein the cleansing of plurality of financial entries creates a plurality of cleansed financial entries for each of the plurality of financial entries based on removed unnecessary information;
• identifying, by the computer, keywords in each of the plurality cleansed financial entries;
• searching, by the computer, a database for a database entry that corresponds to the identified keywords in each of the plurality cleansed financial entries;
• determining, by the computer, a commodity identification number in the database entry that corresponds to the identified keywords in each of the plurality cleansed financial entries;
• updating, by the computer, the plurality of financial entries to include the determined commodity identification number;
• and
• transmitting, by the computer, updated financial data to the computing device, wherein the updated financial data includes the updated financial entries.
