Software version control without affecting a deployed container

A computer program product for executing multiple versions of an application within a computing environment, the computer program product comprising:

• one or more computer readable storage media and program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, the program instructions readable/executable by one or more computer processors:
• program instructions to identify a request to execute an instance of a first version of an application within a computing environment;
• program instructions to determine that an instance of a second version of the application is active within the computing environment;
• program instructions to access a data structure including information associated with the application to obtain a first set of data corresponding to the first version of the application;
• program instructions to copy from a network accessible storage device, one or more executable objects associated with the first version of the application based, at least in part, on the first set of data to the computing environment;
• and
• program instructions to execute the copied one or more executable objects associated with the first version that comprise the requested instance of the first version of the application within the computing environment.

A computer system for executing multiple versions of an application within a computing environment, the computer system comprising:

• one or more computer processors;
• one or more computer readable storage media;
• and
• program instructions stored on the computer readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more processors, the program instructions comprising:
• program instructions to identify a request to execute an instance of a first version of an application within a computing environment;
• program instructions to determine that an instance of a second version of the application is active within the computing environment;
• program instructions to access a data structure including information associated with the application to obtain a first set of data corresponding to the first version of the application;
• program instructions to copy from a network accessible storage device, one or more executable objects associated with the first version of the application based, at least in part, on the first set of data to the computing environment;
• and
• program instructions to execute the copied one or more executable objects associated with the first version that comprise the requested instance of the first version of the application within the computing environment.
