Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing succinic acid as obtained by fermentation, said process exhibiting a high yield in terms of succinic acid crystals recovery and allowing to achieve a final product with a low content of saccharides.
Claims10
A process for manufacturing succinic acid comprising:
- a) providing an aqueous solution of succinic acid;
- b) crystallizing the succinic acid from the aqueous solution to form intermediate crystals and a mother liquor;
- c) separating the intermediate crystals from the mother liquor;
- d) treating the mother liquor by nanofiltration
- e) recycling the treated mother liquor to b);
- f) purifying the intermediate crystals;
- and
- g) recovering succinic acid.
