Abstract
In various embodiments, a fluid is treated by flowing the fluid through a flow cell having (i) a fluid entry, (ii) a fluid exit, (iii) a treatment region disposed between the fluid entry and exit, and (iv) an interior surface reflective to ultraviolet (UV) light, and diffusively reflecting UV light emitted from one or more UV light sources to illuminate the treatment region substantially uniformly, thereby treating the fluid.

A method for treating fluid, the method comprising:
- flowing fluid through a flow cell having (i) a fluid entry, (ii) a fluid exit, (iii) a treatment region disposed between the fluid entry and exit, and (iv) an interior surface at least a portion of which is reflective to ultraviolet (UV) light;
- and
- treating the fluid flowing through the treatment region by illuminating the treatment region with UV light,
- wherein the UV light is spatially distributed before entering the treatment region such that the UV light illuminates the treatment region substantially uniformly.
The method of claim 54, wherein the UV light is spatially distributed via one or more diffuse reflections before entering the treatment region.
