Abstract
Methods and system for operating a vehicle climate control system are described. In one example, the vehicle climate control system includes high and low temperature coolant loops that operate in conjunction with a heat pump. The systems and methods may be incorporated into electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine propelled vehicles.
Claims15
A method for operating a vehicle climate control system, comprising:
- transferring thermal energy from a heat pump to a high temperature coolant loop in a first climate control mode;
- and
- transferring thermal energy from the heat pump to a low temperature coolant loop in a second climate control mode.

A vehicle system, comprising:
- a high temperature coolant loop;
- a low temperature coolant loop;
- a refrigerant to coolant heat exchanger;
- a heat pump including refrigerant;
- and
- two control valves adjustable to allow coolant flow from the high temperature coolant loop to the refrigerant to coolant heat exchanger, and the two control valves adjustable to allow coolant flow from the low temperature coolant loop to the refrigerant to coolant heat exchanger.
