Abstract
There is provided a microparticle sorting method including a procedure of collecting a microparticle in a fluid that flows through a main channel in a branch channel that is in communication with the main channel by generating a negative pressure in the branch channel. In the procedure, a flow of a fluid is formed that flows toward a side of the main channel from a side of the branch channel at a communication opening between the main channel and the branch channel.
Claims12
A microchip, comprising:
- a first fluid channel through which a first fluid comprising microparticles flows;
- a branch channel that is in communication with the first fluid channel though a first communication opening in the branch channel;
- an actuator on a surface of the microchip, wherein the actuator is configured to selectively apply a pressure to deflect a selected microparticle of the microparticles in the first fluid into the branch channel;
- and
- a second fluid channel in communication with the branch channel though a second communication opening in the branch channel, wherein the second communication opening is configured to feed a second fluid flow from a side of the branch channel towards a side of the first fluid channel.
