Abstract
The present invention relates to treating and/or preventing heart failure or one or more individual heart failure phenotypes in mammals using placental growth factor 2 (PlGF-2).

A method for treating or preventing a heart failure phenotype in a mammal, said method comprising the step of administering a composition comprising placental growth factor 2 protein (PlGF-2) to said mammal, wherein said mammal is atherosclerotic, and wherein said administering results in treating or preventing said heart failure phenotype.
