Abstract
Compositions and methods for treating inflamed skin with Pro-Resolution Pathway Stimulators that may be Inflammatory Metabolite Inhibitors, Pro-Resolving Activators, or combinations thereof, and a method for screening active ingredients for activity as Pro-Resolution Pathway Stimulators for incorporation into topical cosmetic products.
Claims21
A method for formulating a topical composition containing one or more Pro-Resolution Pathway Stimulators by:
- (a) selecting an active ingredient;
- (b) quantifying the inhibition in release of one or more Inflammatory Metabolites or Inflammatory Metabolite Markers from cells to which the active is exposed, or
- (c) quantifying the increase in release of one or more Pro-Resolving Lipid Mediators or Pro-Resolving Lipid Mediator Markers in cells to which the active is exposed,
- (d) selecting the active that shows:
- (i) a decrease in cellular concentration of Inflammatory Metabolites or Inflammatory Metabolite Markers individually or in combination;
- and/or
- (ii) an increase in cellular concentration of Pro-Resolving Lipid Mediators or Pro-Resolving Lipid Mediator Markers individually or in combination
- (e) formulating the active selected in (d) into a topical cosmetic product.
