A ball component of a ball-and-socket prosthesis comprising a head and a stem, wherein the stem comprises one or more truss structures, each of the truss structures comprising two or more struts joined at a node, wherein the one or more truss structures are configured to interface with bone tissue.
A ball-and socket prosthesis comprising:
- a cup;
- and
- a ball component comprising a spherical head and a stem, wherein the stem comprises one or more truss structures, each of the truss structures comprising two or more struts joined at a node, wherein the one or more truss structures are configured to interface with bone tissue.
A method, comprising:
- coupling a ball component to a bone, wherein the ball component comprises a spherical head and a stem, wherein the stem comprises one or more truss structures, each of the truss structures comprising two or more struts joined at a node, wherein the one or more truss structures are configured to interface with bone tissue;
- coupling a cup to the bone of a subject;
- and
- coupling the ball component to the cup.
