Surgical Clip Applier Methods

A surgical clip applier, comprising:

• a housing having an elongate shaft extending therefrom with a clip stack disposed therein, and a pair of jaws at a distal end of the elongate shaft, the pair of jaws being movable between open and closed positions;
• a clip advancing assembly extending from the housing through the elongate shaft and configured to advance a distal-most clip of the clip stack into the pair of jaws;
• and
• a camming assembly extending from the housing through the elongate shaft and configured to advance distally to move the jaws from the open position to the closed position;
• wherein a closing force to distally advance the camming assembly to move the jaws from the open position to the closed position is prevented from exceeding an overload force, and wherein the overload force increases as the camming assembly advances distally.
