Abstract
A media guidance application is provided by which users can define rules for assigning user equipment devices as destinations for media content. For example, a user may define a rule by which selected media content having attributes that satisfy a user-defined condition are downloaded, recorded, or streamed to a particular, user-specified user equipment device. The user may define and manage rules using media guidance menus, and may restrict other users from accessing the rules (e.g., parents restricting children).
Claims21
1-42. (canceled)
A method for allowing media to be automatically assigned to a device, the method comprising:
- receiving a first input from a user defining a first rule for assigning a first device of a plurality of devices as a storage destination for media content, wherein the first rule is associated with a first priority;
- receiving a second input from the user defining a second rule for assigning a second device of the plurality of devices as the storage destination for the media content, wherein the second rule is associated with a second priority;
- receiving a user input selecting a media asset;
- determining that the first rule and the second rule are both satisfied by the media asset;
- and
- automatically assigning either the first device or the second device as the storage destination of the media asset based on a respective priority associated with the first rule and the second rule.
A system for allowing media to be automatically assigned to a device, the method comprising:
- a user input interface;
- and
- control circuitry configured to:
- receive, via the user input interface, a first input from a user defining a first rule for assigning a first device of a plurality of devices as a storage destination for media content, wherein the first rule is associated with a first priority;
- receive, via the user input interface, a second input from the user defining a second rule for assigning a second device of the plurality of devices as the storage destination for the media content, wherein the second rule is associated with a second priority;
- receive, via user input interface, a user input selecting a media asset;
- determine that the first rule and the second rule are both satisfied by the media asset;
- and
- automatically assign either the first device or the second device as the storage destination of the media asset based on a respective priority associated with the first rule and the second rule.
