Cross-platform replication

A non-transitory machine readable medium having stored thereon instructions for performing a method comprising machine executable code which when executed by at least one machine, causes the machine to:

• establish a replication relationship between a first storage endpoint and a second storage endpoint;
• implement a replication source workflow, at the first storage endpoint, based upon the replication relationship to utilize first storage, hosted by the first storage endpoint, as a replication source for replicating data to second storage hosted by the second storage endpoint;
• implement a proxy, at the first storage endpoint, to represent the second storage of the second storage endpoint;
• implement a replication destination workflow, at the first storage endpoint, upon the proxy;
• and
• implement data sending workflow to replicate data from the first storage of the first storage endpoint to the second storage of the second storage endpoint.

A computing device comprising:

• a memory containing machine readable medium comprising machine executable code having stored thereon instructions for performing a method;
• and
• a processor coupled to the memory, the processor configured to execute the machine executable code to cause the processor to:
• establish a replication relationship between a first storage endpoint and a second storage endpoint;
• implement a replication destination workflow, at the second storage endpoint, based upon the replication relationship to utilize second storage, hosted by the second storage endpoint, as a replication destination for storing replicated data from first storage of the first storage endpoint;
• implement a proxy, at the second storage endpoint, to represent the first storage of the first storage endpoint;
• implement a replication source workflow, at the second storage endpoint, upon the proxy;
• and
• implement data sending workflow to receive replicated data, from the first storage of the first storage endpoint, for storage into the second storage.
