Home network traffic isolation

A method comprising:

• in response to receipt of a first request for authentication from an end device, performing an authentication protocol to authenticate with an authentication server via an authenticator device;
• when the authentication protocol is successfully performed, receiving, from the authenticator device, a message indicating that a device was successfully authenticated by the authentication server, the message including one or more parameters;
• determining a first key based at least in part on the one or more parameters;
• determining a second key based at least in part on the first key;
• encrypting, using the second key, a message from the end device;
• and
• transmitting the encrypted message to the authenticator device for authenticating the end device.

A system comprising:

• an authenticator device;
• and
• an authentication server.
• an extender device configured to:
• in response to receipt of a first request for authentication from an end device, perform an authentication protocol to authenticate with an authentication server via an authenticator device;
• when the authentication protocol is successfully performed, receive, from the authenticator device, a message indicating that the extender device was successfully authenticated by the authentication server, the message including one or more parameters;
• determine a pairwise master key (PMK) based at least in part on the one or more parameters;
• determine a pairwise temporary key (PTK) based at least in part on the PMK;
• and
• encrypt, using the PTK, a message from the end device for transmission to the authenticator device.
