Abstract
An extended-release drug delivery composition and method of administering the same is provided. The composition comprises microspheres loaded with a biologically-active agent and suspended in a soluble polymer capable of forming a film upon injection onto a biological surface.
Claims17
A composition comprising:
- a film-forming agent comprising water and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), wherein the PVA is from about 0.5% to about 10% w/v of the composition, and wherein the film-forming agent is free of solvent;
- and
- a biologically-active agent dispersed in the film-forming agent.
A method for providing an extended-release treatment to a subject, the method comprising injecting a composition onto a biological tissue of a subject, wherein the composition comprises a biologically-active agent dispersed in a film-forming agent, wherein the film-forming agent comprises water and a water-soluble polymer, and wherein the film-forming agent is free of solvent.
