Abstract
A method and apparatus for requesting and releasing resources for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and/or Node B. The WTRU may transmit a channel acquisition request to the Node B and receive a resource allocation from the Node B. The resource allocation may include a common resource. The WTRU may release the common resource. The release may be based on one or more conditions. The channel acquisition request or the resource allocation may include information related to one or more channels or resources.
Claims20
A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- the WTRU transmitting a channel acquisition request to a Node B;
- the WTRU receiving a resource allocation from the Node B, wherein the resource allocation includes a common Enhanced Dedicated Channel (E-DCH) resource;
- the WTRU communicating using the resource allocation;
- and
- the WTRU releasing the common E-DCH resource.
A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
- a transmitter configured to transmit a channel acquisition request to a Node B;
- a receiver configured to receive a resource allocation from the Node B, wherein the resource allocation includes a common Enhanced Dedicated Channel (E-DCH) resource;
- the transmitter and the receiver configured to communicate using the resource allocation;
- and
- a processor configured to release the common E-DCH resource.
