Radio Signal Measurement Reporting

A method, implemented by a reporting node, for reporting the result of a radio signal measurement to a recipient node, the method comprising:

• obtaining, at the reporting node, the result of a radio signal measurement;
• obtaining, at the reporting node, a joint mapping in which different possible values for a first reporting variable and different possible values for a second reporting variable are jointly mapped to different possible values for the result of the radio signal measurement;
• mapping the result of the radio signal measurement to multiple reported values that jointly represent that result, using the obtained joint mapping, wherein the multiple reported values include one of the different possible values for the first reporting variable and one of the different possible values for the second reporting variable;
• and
• reporting the result of the radio signal measurement to the recipient node by sending the multiple reported values from the reporting node to the recipient node.

A reporting node configured to report the result of a radio signal measurement to a recipient node, the reporting node comprising:

• processing circuitry and a memory, the memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the reporting node is configured to:
• obtain the result of a radio signal measurement;
• obtain a joint mapping in which different possible values for a first reporting variable and different possible values for a second reporting variable are jointly mapped to different possible values for the result of the radio signal measurement;
• map the result of the radio signal measurement to multiple reported values that jointly represent that result, using the obtained joint mapping, wherein the multiple reported values include one of the different possible values for the first reporting variable and one of the different possible values for the second reporting variable;
• and
• report the result of the radio signal measurement to the recipient node by sending the multiple reported values from the reporting node to the recipient node.

A recipient node configured to determine the result of a radio signal measurement as reported by a reporting node, the recipient node comprising:

• processing circuitry and a memory, the memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the recipient node is configured to:
• receive multiple reported values that jointly represent a reported result of the radio signal measurement, wherein the multiple reported values comprise one of different possible values for a first reporting variable and one of different possible values for a second reporting variable, wherein the different possible values for the first reporting variable and the different possible values for the second reporting variable are jointly mapped to different possible values for the reported result of the radio signal measurement;
• and
• perform one or more operations based on the multiple reported values,

A configuring node for configuring a reporting node for reporting the result of a radio signal measurement to a recipient node, the configuring node comprising:

• processing circuitry and a memory, the memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the configuring node is configured to:
• generate configuration information for configuring the reporting node to report the result of a radio signal measurement using a joint mapping in which different possible values for a first reporting variable and different possible values for a second reporting variable are jointly mapped to different possible values for a reported result of the radio signal measurement;
• and
• send the generated configuration information to the reporting node.
