System and methods for verifying and displaying a video segment via an online platform

A method for verifying and displaying a video segment via an online platform, the method comprising:

• providing a first set of questions to elicit a response from a first user;
• in response to a selection, from a first client computing platform associated with the first user, of at least one question from the first set of questions, obtaining a first video segment from the first client computing platform;
• generating a pointer associated with the portion of the video segment that includes the user selection of content, the pointer defining a moment in time for the portion of the video segment;
• obtaining a first capture date associated with the first video segment, the first capture date indicating a date when the first video segment was captured;
• verifying that the first capture date is within a threshold time period;
• if the first capture date is verified:
• associating the first video segment with a first profile associated with the first user;
• displaying at least a portion of the first profile including the first video segment via the online platform;
• and
• receiving a first selection from a second client computing platform associated with a second user viewing the first profile, the first selection indicating a binary interest for the first user based upon the first profile.
