Authentication Mechanism

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium product comprising computer program instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

• receive, at a server via a first communication protocol, an authorization request from a client device originating from an authorization module of an application executing on the client device, the first authorization request comprising an identifier of the client device;
• cause, in response to the authorization request, transmission of a verification message to the client device via a second communication protocol, wherein the verification message comprises a verification code;
• authenticate, at the server, the application based on receiving the verification code sent to the client device;
• transmit, to the first authorization module of the first application, a unique token verifying that the first application is authorized to sign into a first user account corresponding to the identifier of the client device.

A system comprising a processor and a memory storing computer program instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to:

• receive, from the authorization module, a set of contacts associated with the client device;
• identify, based on the set of contacts, a set of user accounts associated with the set of contacts;
• and
• provide a set of unique tokens representing each of the user accounts of the set of user accounts to the first authorization module, wherein the first authorization module is operable to provide the set of unique tokens to the first application.
