Method and apparatus for managing user quality of experience in network

A method of a network element for measuring a user quality of experience in a network, the method comprising:

• receiving a user quality-of-experience measurement request message that comprises user quality-of-experience measurement criteria for a link between a first network element and a second network element, from a system controller;
• measuring a user quality-of-experience for the link between the network elements based on the user quality-of-experience measurement criteria;
• and
• transmitting the user quality-of-experience measurement result to the system controller.

An apparatus of a system controller for measuring a user quality of experience in a network, the apparatus comprising:

• a test requesting unit setting user quality-of-experience measurement criteria about a link between a first network element and a second network element, to the first network element, and transmitting a user quality-of-experience measurement request message that comprises the set criteria;
• a measurement result management unit receiving a user quality-of-experience measurement result from the first network element;
• and
• a result providing unit providing the received user quality-of-experience measurement result to a system operator.

An apparatus of a network element for measuring a user quality of experience in a network, the apparatus comprising:

• a first layer receiving a user quality-of-experience measurement request message that comprises a user quality-of-experience measurement criteria for a link between a first network element and a second network element, from a system controller, and transmitting a user quality-of-experience measurement result to the system controller;
• a second layer acquiring the user quality-of-experience measurement result from a packet received from the second network element;
• and
• a third layer generating a packet according to a protocol based on the user quality-of-experience measurement criteria, to transmit, and receive a packet from the second network element.
