Abstract
A method for detecting abnormalities in network element operation. The method includes monitoring at least a portion of the network element for abnormalities and making a determination that an abnormality exists, in response to the monitoring, and based on the determination, tracking the abnormality. An abnormality includes a measured performance that deviates from a nominal performance, but that does not cause erroneous behavior of the network element.
Claims20
A method for detecting abnormalities in network element operation, the method comprising:
- monitoring at least a portion of a network element for abnormalities, wherein an abnormality comprises a measured performance that deviates from a nominal performance, but that does not cause erroneous behavior of the network element;
- making a determination that an abnormality exists in response to the monitoring;
- and
- based on the determination, tracking the abnormality.
A network element, the network element comprising:
- functionality modules;
- and
- at least one abnormality detection module configured to:
- monitor at least one of the functionality modules for abnormalities, wherein an abnormality comprises a measured performance that deviates from a nominal performance, but that does not cause erroneous behavior of the network element;
- make a determination that an abnormality exists in response to the monitoring;
- and
- based on the determination, track the abnormality.
A non-transitory computer readable medium (CRM) comprising instructions that enable a network element to:
- monitor at least a portion of the network element for abnormalities, wherein an abnormality comprises a measured performance that deviates from a nominal performance, but that does not cause erroneous behavior of the network element;
- make a determination that an abnormality exists in response to the monitoring;
- and
- based on the determination, track the abnormality.
