Abstract
Catalyst activators and methods for their preparation and their use in processes for polymerizing olefms are described. In particular, catalyst activators derived from aluminum alkyls and their use with metallocene type catalyst systems and/or conventional-type transition metal catalyst systems are described.
Claims15
An activator composition for olefin polymerization comprising the reaction product(s) of:
- (a) at least one compound comprising at least one aluminum alkyl moiety, wherein the at least one compound comprising at least one aluminum alkyl moiety is a trialkylaluminum;
- (b) at least one compound comprising at least one active hydrogen moiety and at least one fluorine substituent;
- and
- (c) water.

An activator composition for olefin polymerization comprising at least one compound comprising at least one [Al—O—R] moiety wherein R is an organic moiety having up to 100 non-hydrogen atoms and wherein R comprises at least one fluorine substituent.
-17. (canceled)
A method for producing an activator composition for olefin polymerization, comprising the step of:
- combining, in any order, at least one compound comprising at least one aluminum alkyl moiety, wherein the at least one compound comprising at least one aluminum alkyl moiety is a trialkylaluminum, at least one compound comprising at least one active hydrogen moiety and at least one fluorine substituent;
