Claims20
A composition comprising a variant lectin polypeptide comprising at least one mutation that disrupts pi-pi aromatic stacking, wherein said variant lectin polypeptide exhibits antiviral or antimicrobial activity, and wherein said lectin polypeptide exhibits reduced mitogenic activity relative to a wild type lectin polypeptide.
