Abstract
The present invention provides compositions, vaccines and methods for inducing protective immunity against filovirus infection, particularly protective immunity against infection of one or more subtypes of Ebola viruses and Marburg virus.
Claims32
A vaccine combination comprising
- (i) a first composition comprising an immunologically effective amount of an adenovirus vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding an antigenic protein of a first filovirus subtype, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier;
- and
- (ii) a second composition comprising an immunologically effective amount of an MVA vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding antigenic proteins of at least two filovirus subtypes, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier;
- wherein one of the compositions is a priming composition and the other composition is a boosting composition.

A method of inducing a protective immune response against a filovirus in a subject, the method comprising:
- a. administering to the subject a first composition comprising an immunologically effective amount of an adenovirus vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding an antigenic protein of a first filovirus subtype;
- and
- b. administering to the subject a second composition comprising an immunologically effective amount of an MVA vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding antigenic proteins of at least two filovirus subtypes.
- wherein steps (a) and (b) are conducted in either order, and wherein the administration of (a) and (b) induces a protective immune response in the subject.
A kit comprising:
- a. a first composition comprising an immunologically effective amount of an adenovirus vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding an antigenic protein of a first filovirus subtype, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier;
- and
- b. a second composition comprising an immunologically effective amount of an MVA vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding antigenic proteins of at least two filovirus subtypes, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier;
- wherein one of the compositions is a priming composition and the other composition is a boosting composition.
