## Abstract

Implementations of a counterweight device for eyeglasses are provided. In some implementations, a counterweight device may be secured to the backend of each temple and thereby remove some to all weight of the eyeglasses from the nose and/or cheeks of the wearer. In some implementations, a pair of counterweight devices may be used to counterbalance the weight of a pair of eyeglasses. In some implementations, a counterweight device may comprise an elastic loop attached to a weight by a connector. In some implementations, a counterweight device may include fasteners configured to removably secure a weight to an elastic loop or to another weight dangling from an elastic loop. In this way, through the use of threaded fasteners, the overall weight and/or look of a counterweight device may be changed by the wearer. In some implementations, a lanyard may be used in conjunction with a pair of counterweight devices.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A counterweight device for eyeglasses comprising:
an elastic loop, the elastic loop defines an opening that extends therethrough; and
a weight attached to the elastic loop;
wherein the elastic loop may be stretched so that the opening thereof can fit about the backend of a temple of a pair of eyeglasses.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The counterweight device of claim 1, wherein the elastic loop is fabricated from rubber.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The counterweight device of claim 1, wherein the weight is made of a material selected from the group consisting of tungsten and a tungsten alloy.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The counterweight device of claim 1, wherein the elastic loop and the weight each include a fastener thereon, together the fasteners are configured to removably connect the elastic loop to the weight.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The counterweight device of claim 4, wherein the elastic loop is fabricated from rubber.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The counterweight device of claim 4, wherein the weight is made of a material selected from the group consisting of tungsten and a tungsten alloy.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The counterweight device of claim 1, further comprising a second weight; wherein the weight and the second weight each include a fastener thereon, together the fasteners are configured to removably connect the weight to the second weight.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The counterweight device of claim 7, wherein the elastic loop is fabricated from rubber.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The counterweight device of claim 7, wherein the weight is made of a material selected from the group consisting of tungsten and a tungsten alloy.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The counterweight device of claim 1, further comprising a lanyard, one end of the lanyard is attached to the weight.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The counterweight device of claim 1, further comprising a lanyard, the lanyard includes a fastener on a first end and a second end thereof; wherein the elastic loop includes a fastener thereon, and the weight includes a first fastener and a second fastener thereon, the fastener of the elastic loop is removably secured to the first fastener of the weight and the fastener on either the first end or the second end of the lanyard is removably secured to the second fastener of the weight.

### Claim 12

A counterweight device for eyeglasses comprising:
an elastic tube, the elastic tube defines an opening that extends therethrough;
a weight; and
a housing configured to contain the elastic tube and the weight;
wherein the elastic tube may be stretched so that the opening thereof can fit about the backend of a temple of a pair of eyeglasses; and
wherein the weight is positioned in-line with the elastic tube.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The counterweight device of claim 12, wherein the housing is made of cloth.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The counterweight device of claim 12, wherein the elastic tube is fabricated from rubber.

### Claim 15 (depends on 12)

The counterweight device of claim 12, wherein the weight is made of a material selected from the group consisting of tungsten and a tungsten alloy.

### Claim 16

A counterweight device for eyeglasses comprising:
a weight including an attachment element, the attachment element is configured to be removably secured to the backend of a temple of a pair of eyeglasses.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The counterweight device of claim 16, wherein the attachment element is an elastic cap, the elastic cap comprises an opening that extends into an interior thereof.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The counterweight device of claim 17, wherein the elastic cap and the weight each include a fastener thereon, together the fasteners are configured to removably connect the elastic cap to the weight.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The counterweight device of claim 17, further comprising a second weight; wherein the weight and the second weight each include a fastener thereon, together the fasteners are configured to removably connect the weight to the second weight.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)

The counterweight device of claim 17, further comprising a lanyard, the lanyard includes a fastener on a first end and a second end thereof; wherein the elastic cap includes a fastener thereon, and the weight includes a first fastener and a second fastener thereon, the fastener of the elastic cap is removably secured to the first fastener of the weight and the fastener on either the first end or the second end of the lanyard is removably secured to the second fastener of the weight.

### Claim 21
