A hinged bin lid includes a dual pawl latching mechanism disposed on a bottom surface thereof whereby the dual pawl latching mechanism does not extend beyond an exterior dimension defined by the bin lid. The bin lid may include a pair of opposed bin lid side walls. The latching mechanism is disposed on the bin lid bottom surface whereby a gap is defined between an outer portion of the latching mechanism and an inner portion of the opposed bin lid side walls. The console side wall includes a top edge configured to define a mating surface for the bin lid side walls. ## Claims ### Claim 1 A storage bin for a vehicle, comprising: a bin including a bin side wall having a top portion carrying a pair of opposed strikers; and a hinged bin lid having a bottom surface including a dual pawl latching mechanism disposed thereon whereby no portion of the dual pawl latching mechanism extends beyond a hinged bin lid exterior dimension. ### Claim 2 (depends on 1) The storage bin of claim 1, wherein the hinged bin lid includes a pair of opposed side walls. ### Claim 3 (depends on 2) The storage bin of claim 2, wherein the dual pawl latching mechanism is disposed on the hinged bin lid bottom surface whereby a gap is defined between an outer surface of the dual pawl latching mechanism and an inner surface of each wall of the pair of opposed side walls. ### Claim 4 (depends on 3) The storage bin of claim 3, wherein the gap is dimensioned to snugly receive the bin side wall top portion therein whereby the pawls of the dual pawl latching mechanism engage the strikers of the pair of opposed strikers when the hinged bin lid is translated to a closed configuration. ### Claim 5 (depends on 1) A vehicle including the storage bin of claim 1. ### Claim 6 A vehicle console assembly, comprising: a bin including a bin side wall having a top portion carrying a pair of opposed strikers; a console dimensioned to receive the bin and including a console side wall having a top edge configured to define an included angle relative to the bin side wall top portion; and a hinged bin lid having a bottom surface including a dual pawl latching mechanism disposed thereon. ### Claim 7 (depends on 6) The assembly of claim 6, wherein the dual pawl latching mechanism does not extend beyond an exterior dimension defined by the hinged bin lid. ### Claim 8 (depends on 6) The assembly of claim 6, wherein the hinged bin lid includes a pair of opposed bin lid side walls. ### Claim 9 (depends on 8) The assembly of claim 8, wherein a gap is defined between an outer surface of the dual pawl latching mechanism and an inner surface of each wall of the pair of opposed side walls. ### Claim 10 (depends on 9) The assembly of claim 9, wherein the gap is dimensioned to snugly receive the bin side wall top portion therein whereby the pawls of the dual pawl latching mechanism engage the strikers of the pair of opposed strikers when the hinged bin lid is translated to a closed configuration. ### Claim 11 (depends on 8) The assembly of claim 8, wherein each wall of the hinged bin lid pair of opposed side walls is configured to define a same included angle as the console side wall top edge included angle. ### Claim 12 (depends on 11) The assembly of claim 11, wherein the console side wall top edge defines a mating surface for the hinged bin lid pair of opposed side walls. ### Claim 13 (depends on 6) A vehicle including the assembly of claim 6. ### Claim 14 A vehicle center console assembly, comprising: a console including a console side wall; a bin dimensioned to be received in the console side wall and including a bin side wall having a top portion carrying a pair of opposed strikers; and a hinged bin lid including a pair of opposed bin lid side walls and a bottom surface having a dual pawl latching mechanism disposed thereon; wherein the dual pawl latching mechanism does not extend beyond an exterior dimension defined by the hinged bin lid. ### Claim 15 (depends on 14) The assembly of claim 14, wherein the dual pawl latching mechanism is disposed on the hinged bin lid bottom surface whereby a gap is defined between an outer surface of the dual pawl latching mechanism and an inner surface of each wall of the hinged bin lid pair of opposed side walls. ### Claim 16 (depends on 15) The assembly of claim 15, wherein the gap is dimensioned to snugly receive the bin top portion therein whereby the pawls of the dual pawl latching mechanism engage the strikers of the pair of opposed strikers when the hinged bin lid is translated to a closed configuration. ### Claim 17 (depends on 14) The assembly of claim 14, wherein the console side wall includes a top edge configured to define an included angle relative to the bin side wall top portion. ### Claim 18 (depends on 17) The assembly of claim 17, wherein the hinged bin lid side walls are configured to define a same included angle as the console side wall top edge. ### Claim 19 (depends on 18) The assembly of claim 18, wherein the console side wall defines a mating surface for the hinged bin lid side walls. ### Claim 20 (depends on 14) A vehicle including the assembly of claim 14.
