## Abstract

An orthopedic device, first and second struts, and a range-of-motion limiting pivot assembly connecting to the first and second struts. The pivoting assembly having an engagement member linked to a tab disposed and arranged for pulling radially outward away from a central axis of the pivoting assembly for adjusting the range of motion of the pivoting assembly.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An orthopedic device, comprising:
a strut;
a first paddle assembly defining first and second wings spaced apart by a central portion connecting to the strut, the first wing having a first attachment member defining at least one slot, the second wing forming a coupling member;
a first strap assembly having a first portion received by the at least one slot of the first attachment member, and a second portion carrying a buckle for coupling to the coupling member, to form a circumference between the first paddle assembly and the first strap assembly about the strut.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The orthopedic device of claim 1, wherein the coupling member is arranged over an opening and proximate to a relief opening.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The orthopedic device of claim 1, wherein the relief opening defines an arcuate shape.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The orthopedic device of claim 1, wherein the first paddle assembly defines apertures along the central portion.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The orthopedic device of claim 4, wherein the apertures are arranged at least above or below the first attachment member and the coupling member.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The orthopedic device of claim 3, wherein the first paddle assembly defines a reinforcement area proximate to or at the coupling member.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The orthopedic device of claim 6, wherein the reinforcement area is formed as a thickened area of the first paddle assembly relative to areas adjacent to the coupling member.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The orthopedic device of claim 1, further comprising:
a second paddle assembly secured to the strut;
a second strap assembly connecting to the second paddle assembly.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The orthopedic device of claim 8, wherein the first and second paddle assemblies include indicia distinguishing the first and second paddle assemblies from each other.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The orthopedic device of claim 1, further comprising a pad joined to the first paddle assembly, the pad extending from an inner surface of the first paddle assembly around to an outer surface of the first paddle assembly.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The orthopedic device of claim 1, wherein the first paddle assembly includes a lock mechanism, the first paddle assembly being slidably connected to the strut by a channel located within the central portion of the first paddle assembly.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The orthopedic device of claim 11, wherein the strut defines an adjustment aperture defining a plurality of wider sections spaced apart by narrower sections, the wider sections configured to receive a post of the lock mechanism of the first paddle assembly, and the narrower sections being narrower than the post to prevent locking with the post.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The orthopedic device of claim 12, wherein the locking mechanism includes a lever connected to the post for selectively coupling the post to one of the wider sections of the plurality of wider sections of the adjustment aperture.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The orthopedic device of claim 13, wherein the post extends outward from the lever through the channel to a post opening, the lever biasing the post outward through the post opening and an exterior of the paddle such that the post traverses the channel.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The orthopedic device of claim 1, further comprising a first pad, the first pad having first and second hinges arranged to correspond to the first and second wings of the first paddle assembly.

### Claim 16

An orthopedic device, comprising:
an upright assembly having a strut including an adjustment aperture having an elongate form, the strut having a first end portion and a second end portion;
a first paddle assembly having a channel configured to receive the first end portion of the strut, the first paddle assembly including a lever extending parallel to the channel, a post extending from the lever into the channel toward a post opening on a side of the first paddle assembly opposite the lever, the post being biased into the interior channel by the lever;
wherein the first paddle assembly is adjustably coupled to the strut such that the post extends through a wider section of the adjustment aperture to lock a position of the first paddle assembly, wherein depression of the post toward the lever frees the post from the adjustment aperture to enable translation of the first paddle assembly relative to the strut.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The orthopedic device of claim 16, further comprising a second paddle assembly that is non-translatable relative to the first end portion and rigidly coupled to the strut.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The orthopedic device of claim 17, wherein the second paddle assembly is disposed such that it is closer to a targeted joint of a wearer than the first paddle assembly when the orthopedic device is worn by the wearer.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The orthopedic device of claim 17, further comprising first and second strap assemblies, connecting to the first and second paddle assemblies, respectively, wherein the first and second paddle assemblies include indicia distinguishing first and second paddle assemblies from each other.

### Claim 20

An orthopedic device, comprising:
an upright assembly having a strap attachment member and a clasp coupling member;
a strap attached to the strap attachment member and extending therefrom, the strap including a clasp assembly configured to couple to the clasp coupling member, the clasp assembly including:
a fastener portion having an opening configured to couple with a corresponding coupling member;
a handle portion joined to the fastener portion at a first hinge, the handle portion being rotatable relative to the fastener portion about the first hinge, the handle portion including a clip that enables detachable coupling of the handle portion to the fastener portion; and
a strap attachment portion coupled to the handle portion at a second hinge, the strap attachment portion being rotatable relative to the handle portion about the second hinge, the strap attachment portion having a second strap attachment member;
wherein the clasp assembly is moveable between an open configuration and a closed configuration, the opening and the strap attachment portion being spaced apart at a greater distance in the open configuration than in the closed configuration.
