## Abstract

An image capturing apparatus comprises a light emitting unit which provides, by light emission, a notification of an operation status of a self-timer when performing self-timer shooting; a mode setting unit which sets one of a plurality of operation modes; and a control unit which controls the light emitting unit to provide the notification of the operation status of the self-timer in self-timer shooting if the mode setting unit has set a first operation mode, and controls the light emitting unit not to provide the notification of the operation status of the self-timer in self timer shooting if the mode setting unit has set a second operation mode.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An image capturing apparatus comprising:
a notification unit configured to provide a notification of an operation status;
a shooting control unit configured to control to perform a series of shooting operations including at least a first shooting operation for shooting a person and a second shooting operation for shooting a background; and
a control unit configured to control the notification unit not to provide the notification at the end of a shooting operation which is not a last shooting operation of the series of shooting operations, and to control the notification unit to provide the notification after the end of the last shooting operation of the series of shooting operations.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the notification unit provides the notification of the operation status by light emission.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the notification unit is arranged on an object side of the image capturing apparatus.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising
a composition unit configured to multiple-composite a plurality of images shot by the series of shooting operations.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the shooting control unit is configured to control to perform shooting by causing an electronic flash to emit light in the first shooting operation.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the shooting control unit is configured to control to perform shooting without causing an electronic flash to emit light in the second shooting operation.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the shooting control unit is configured to perform exposure of a time not shorter than 0.5 sec in the second shooting operation.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising
a setting unit configured to set one of a plurality of shooting modes,
wherein the series of shooting operations by the shooting control unit are performed when the setting unit sets a shooting mode used to shoot at least one of the starry sky and a nightscape.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising
a pronunciation unit configured to pronounce a shutter sound in synchronism with each of the series of shooting operations.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein
when self-timer shooting is performed, the control unit is configured to control the notification unit to provide the notification after the end of the last shooting operation of the series of shooting operations, and
when shooting is not self-timer shooting, the control unit is configured to control the notification unit not to provide the notification after the end of the last shooting operation of the series of shooting operations.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein if no face has been detected from an image obtained by the first shooting operation of the series of shooting operations, the control unit is configured to control the notification unit not to provide the notification after the end of the last shooting operation of the series of shooting operations.

### Claim 12

A control method of an image capturing apparatus having a notification unit configured to provide a notification of an operation status, the method comprising:
a shooting control step of controlling to perform a series of shooting operations including at least a first shooting operation for shooting a person and a second shooting operation for shooting a background; and
a control step of controlling the notification unit not to provide the notification at the end of a shooting operation which is not a last shooting operation of the series of shooting operations, and of controlling the notification unit to provide the notification after end of the last shooting operation of the series of shooting operations.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute the control method according to claim 12.
