## Abstract

Seed index system and methods for treating agricultural seeds with one or more seed care products employing a size-adjusted application rate based on the size of the seeds. Such size-adjusted application rates can be determined by a supplier of seed care products and communicated to an applicator who applies the seed care product to a quantity of seeds. Such size-adjusted application rates can be in the form of a chart, an equation, or a calculator.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system for determining an appropriate rate at which to apply a seed care product to a quantity of seeds using automated seed treatment equipment, wherein said system comprises an electronic calculator configured to receive an inputted seed size for said quantity of seeds, wherein said electronic calculator is configured to determine a size-adjusted application rate for said seed care product based at least partly on said inputted seed size.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said electronic calculator is accessible online.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said electronic calculator is provided as a feature of said seed treatment equipment.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said seed treatment equipment comprises an input screen for receiving one or more inputs used to determine said size-adjusted application rate.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The system of claim 4, wherein said one or more inputs include said inputted seed size.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The system of claim 4, wherein said one or more inputs include a suggested application rate for said seed care product.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The system of claim 6, wherein said suggested application rate is a labeled application rate provided in conjunction with said seed care product.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The system of claim 6, wherein said suggested application rate is inputted in terms of the amount of said seed care product per unit of weight of seed, the amount of said seed care product per seed count unit, or the amount of active ingredient in said seed care product per individual kernel of seed.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The system of claim 6, wherein said one or more inputs include said inputted seed size.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said electronic calculator is configured to output said size-adjusted application rate in terms of fluid ounces of seed care product per 100 pounds of seed.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said inputted seed size is inputted in terms of number of seeds per given unit of weight or number of seeds per given unit of volume.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said electronic calculator is configured such that an inverse relationship exists between the average physical size of said quantity of seeds and the size-adjusted application rate determined by said electronic calculator.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said inputted seed size is inputted in terms of number of seeds per given unit of weight.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said inputted seed size is inputted in terms of number of seeds per pound.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The system of claim 14, wherein said inputted seed size is in the range of 1,500 to 4,500 seeds per pound.

### Claim 16 (depends on 12)

The system of claim 12, wherein said electronic calculator is configured to output said size-adjusted application rate in terms of fluid ounces of seed care product per 100 pounds of seed.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said electronic calculator is configured to determine said size-adjusted application rate based on said inputted seed size and a suggested application rate.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The system of claim 17, wherein said suggested application rate is a labeled application rate provided in conjunction with said seed care product.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The system of claim 18, wherein said labeled application rate is in the range of 0.085 to 5.000 fluid ounces per 100 pounds of seed.

### Claim 20 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein said seed care product comprises an active ingredient selected from the group consisting of fludioxonil, ipconazole, pyraclostrobin, trifloxystrobin, mefenoxam, metalaxyl, clothianidin, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, bacillus pumilus, harpin protein, difenoconazole, prothioconazole, tebuconazole, triticonazole, and combinations thereof.
