## Abstract

A jet ink composition, a jet ink coating method and a resulting jet ink coated article are all predicated upon the jet ink composition which includes in addition to a particulate pigment material and a solvent composition a resin composition. The resin composition includes an uncured silicone resin, an uncured epoxy resin and an uncured melamine resin. Upon thermal cure the uncured resin composition forms a cured resin composition with superior adhesion to substrates such as but not limited to glass substrates, ceramic substrates and metal oxide substrates.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-11. (canceled)

### Claim 12

A coated article comprising:
a substrate; and
a cured coating located upon the substrate and comprising:
a particulate pigment material; and
a cured resin binder composition binding the particulate pigment material and comprising a cured silicone resin component, a cured epoxy resin component and a cured melamine resin component.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The coated article of claim 12 wherein the particulate pigment material comprises a carbon black particulate pigment material.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The coated article of claim 12 wherein the substrate is selected from the group consisting of a glass substrate, a ceramic substrate, a metal oxide substrate, a metal substrate, and a polymeric substrate.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The coated article of claim 13 wherein the cured coating has a thickness from about 2 to about 6 microns.

### Claim 16 (depends on 14)

The coated article of claim 14 wherein an adhesion of the cured coating to the substrate is greater than or equal to 4B on a cross hatch adhesion test.

### Claim 17 (depends on 13)

The coated article of claim 13 wherein the cured coating has an optical density from about 3 to about 5.5.

### Claim 18 (depends on 13)

The coated article of claim 13 wherein the carbon black particulate pigment material particles are regularly arranged.

### Claim 19 (depends on 12)

The coated article of claim 12 wherein:
the coated article comprises a cover lens; and
the coated article may be ultrasonically cleaned with an aqueous alkali detergent solution absent discoloration of the cured coating or delamination or the cured coating from the substrate.

### Claim 20 (depends on 12)

A consumer electronic product, comprising:
a housing having a front surface, a back surface and side surfaces;
electrical components provided at least partially internal to the housing, the electrical components including at least a controller, a memory, and a display, the display being provided at or adjacent the front surface of the housing; and
the coated article of claim 12 provided at or over the front surface of the housing such that it is provided over the display.

### Claim 21

The consumer electronic product, wherein the consumer electronic product is a mobile phone, portable media player, notebook computer or tablet computer.
