Abstract
Methods and systems for managing power consumption of network devices are disclosed. An example method can comprise detecting a triggering condition and reducing functionality of a network device based on detecting the triggering condition. The method can comprise detecting, at the network device, a user device, restoring functionality of the network device in response to detecting the user device, and transmitting information to the user device after restoring functionality of the network device.
Claims22
1-6. (canceled)
A method comprising:
- determining, by a first device, timing information associated with reduced functionality of a first device, wherein the timing information is indicative of a time window;
- sending, from the first device, the timing information to a second device;
- reducing functionality of the first device during the time window;
- restoring functionality of the first device after the time window;
- receiving, at the first device, a transmission from the second device after the time window;
- and
- sending, from the first device, information to the second device in response to the transmission.
15-20. (canceled)
A method, comprising:
- determining, by a first network device, that a current time is within a time range associated with reduced functionality of a wireless radio of the first network device;
- responsive to determining that the current time is within the time range, reducing, by the first network device, functionality of the wireless radio;
- receiving a signal, at the first network device, from a client device;
- responsive to receiving the signal from the client device, restoring, by the first network device, functionality of the wireless radio;
- and
- transmitting, by the first network device, information to the client device via the wireless radio after restoring functionality of the wireless radio.
An apparatus comprising:
- a non-transitory computer readable medium, configured to store information;
- a processor, coupled to the non-transitory computer readable medium, configured to,
- determine timing information associated with reduced functionality of the apparatus, wherein the timing information is indicative of a time window,
- reduce functionality of the apparatus during the time window, and
- restore functionality of the apparatus after the time window;
- and
- a network interface, coupled to the processor, configured to,
- transmit the timing information to a second apparatus,
- receive a transmission from the second apparatus after the time window, and
- transmit the information to the second apparatus in response to the transmission.
