Abstract
A playback method according to one aspect of the present disclosure is performed by a playback device connected to a display device. The playback method includes obtaining a type of the display device; selecting each of a version of High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and a version of High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), according to the obtained type of the display device; obtaining a video signal of content recorded on a recording medium; decoding the obtained video signal; encrypting the decoded video signal using the selected version of HDCP; and outputting the encrypted video signal to the display device using the selected version of HDMI.
Claims10
A display device to be connected to a playback device, the display device comprising:
- a transmitter that transmits, to the playback device, type information indicating a resolution of the display device and a luminance range that the display device is compatible with;
- a receiver that receives, from the playback device, a video signal encrypted using a version of high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) selected based on the type information and transmitted using a version of high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) selected based on the type information;
- and
- a display that displays the received video signal.
A display method for a display device to be connected to a playback device,
- the display method comprising:
- transmitting, to the playback device, type information indicating a resolution of the display device and a luminance range that the display device is compatible with;
- receiving, from the playback device, a video signal encrypted using a version of high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) selected based on the type information and transmitted using a version of high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) selected based on the type information;
- and
- displaying the received video signal.
