Automatically prepopulating answers to questions contained in a computerized document

A system for automatically prepopulating answers, for a member of a social networking service, to questions contained in a computerized document, the system comprising:

• a computer readable medium having instructions stored there on, which, when executed by a processor, cause the system to:
• retrieve a questionnaire mapping record uniquely corresponding to the computerized document, the questionnaire mapping record containing one or more question records, each of the one or more question records uniquely corresponding to a different question contained in the computer document and containing a mapping to a normalized question record containing a normalized version of the corresponding question;
• for each of the question records in the questionnaire mapping record:
• obtain a normalized question record identified in the mapping in the question record corresponding to the question;
• retrieve one or more handling strategy rules contained in the normalized question record, at least one of the one or more handling strategy rules including a data retrieval rule identifying a field in a member profile in the social networking service from which to retrieve information;
• execute the one or more handling strategy rules to automatically obtain and format information needed to prepopulate an answer to the question, the executing including retrieving information from a member profile corresponding to the member from the social networking service in accordance with the data retrieval rule;
• retrieve one or more additional questions in the computerized document, the one or more additional questions not having corresponding question records in the questionnaire mapping record;
• and
• direct a front-end component to present the one or more additional questions to the member for answering at runtime.

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium for automatically prepopulating answers, for a member of a social networking service, to questions contained in a computerized document;

• comprising instructions;
• which when implemented by one or more machines, cause the one or more machines to perform operations comprising:
• retrieving a questionnaire mapping record uniquely corresponding to the computerized document, the questionnaire mapping record containing one or more question records, each of the one or more question records uniquely corresponding to a different question contained in the computer document and containing a mapping to a normalized question record containing a normalized version of the corresponding question;
• for each of the question records in the questionnaire mapping record:
• obtaining a normalized question record identified in the mapping in the question record corresponding to the question;
• retrieving one or more handling strategy rules contained in the normalized question record, at least one of the one or more handling strategy rules including a data retrieval rule identifying a field in a member profile in the social networking service from which to retrieve information;
• executing the one or more handling strategy rules to automatically obtain and format information needed to prepopulate an answer to the question, the executing including retrieving information from a member profile corresponding to the member from the social networking service in accordance with the data retrieval rule;
• retrieving one or more additional questions in the computerized document, the one or more additional questions not having corresponding question records in the questionnaire mapping record;
• and
• directing a front-end component to present the one or more additional questions to the member for answering at runtime.
