Device and Method for Authenticating a User

A device for authenticating a user, the device comprising:

• processing circuitry configured to:
• receive at least one character typed by the user as part of a password using a keyboard operable as an input device for the device;
• and
• for each typed character:
• acquire an image from a camera configured for imaging a reflection of the keyboard by a cornea of the user;
• determine, by analyzing the image, which finger of a hand of the user is used for typing the typed character;
• and
• derive a respective transformed character from the typed character based on the finger used for typing the typed character.

A method of authenticating a user of a device, the method comprising:

• receiving at least one character typed by the user as part of a password using a keyboard operable as an input device for the device;
• and
• for each typed character:
• acquiring an image from a camera configured for imaging a reflection of the keyboard by a cornea of the user;
• determining, by analyzing the image, which finger of a hand of the user is used for typing the typed character;
• and
• deriving a respective transformed character from the typed character based on the finger used for typing the typed character.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer program for authenticating a user, the computer program comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed on a processing circuit of a device, cause the device to:

• receive at least one character typed by the user as part of a password using a keyboard operable as an input device for the device;
• and
• for each typed character:
• acquire an image from a camera configured for imaging a reflection of the keyboard by a cornea of the user;
• determine, by analyzing the image, which finger of a hand of the user is used for typing the typed character;
• and
• derive a respective transformed character from the typed character based on the finger used for typing the typed character.
