Abstract
A bin monitoring system functions both as a device for lifting the bin and as a weighing system for monitoring or measuring the level of feed or other product in a bin. Various embodiments and methods of retrofitting the bin monitoring system to existing bins are provided. Further, the accuracy provided by various embodiments enables one to accurately predict when the bin will be empty. Thus, a feed mill, for example, can be aware of anticipated needs days in advance, allowing the feed mill to better optimize its scheduling and deliveries.
Claims18
A monitoring system useable with an object having a weight and a leg that supports the object above a foundation, the monitoring system comprising:
- a frame configured to be securable to the foundation;
- a load cell interconnected to the frame;
- a threaded bolt adjustably positioned with respect to and interconnected to the frame;
- a mechanical connector that is interconnected to the frame and can be secured to the leg;
- and
- a first plate arranged and configured to be positioned against a first side of the leg;
- wherein the monitoring system is configured such that tightening the threaded bolt via rotation of the threaded bolt correspondingly lifts the leg and applies a load of the leg to the load cell.
A monitoring system useable with an object having a weight and a leg that supports the object above a foundation, the monitoring system comprising:
- a frame configured to be securable to the foundation;
- a load cell interconnected to the frame;
- a threaded bolt adjustably positioned with respect to and interconnected to the frame;
- a mechanical connector that is interconnected to the frame and can be secured to the leg;
- wherein the mechanical connector and the threaded bolt are aligned along a common axis;
- and
- wherein the monitoring system is configured such that tightening the threaded bolt via rotation of the threaded bolt correspondingly lifts the leg and applies a load of the leg to the load cell.
