Abstract
An energy system including a turbine wheel totally submerge including a rotary element and a wheel mounting enclosure. The wheel mounting enclosure including a cavity where a rotary element rest on said mounting enclosure exposing the upper end to the flowing body of fluid it is submerged. The wheel mounting enclosure comprising several configurations such as a tapered base for increasing the incident flow velocity.
Claims8
A energy system comprising:
- a fully submerged turbine, said turbine comprising at least a rotary element,
- wherein said rotary element comprises a main horizontal axle drive;
- a plurality of multifaceted cells, wherein each multifaceted cell from said plurality of multifaceted cells comprises at least a concave structure;
- at least a mount fully submerged comprising a base, wherein said base comprises at least two solid walls, a bottom walls and a tapered outer surface;
- wherein said at least two solid walls extends vertically from the bottom wall creating a cavity;
- and
- wherein said rotary element is mounted on said mount, wherein said mount encloses a first portion of said rotary element inside said cavity shielding said first portion and wherein a second portion of said rotary element extends away from said cavity.
A system for hydropower generation comprising:
- a prime mover fully submerged comprising a main horizontal axle drive, a plurality of multifaceted cells and at least a rotary element;
- said rotary element located vertically-oriented with respect to said horizontal axle drive;
- at least a mount fully submerged comprising a pair of bearings;
- said rotary element is mounted on said mount, wherein said mount comprises a plurality of walls and a tapered outer surface, said plurality of walls covering a bottom part of said rotary element and exposing an upper part of said rotary element;
- and
- wherein said main axle drive is connected to a step-up gear assembly;
- and wherein said step up gear assembly is connected through a shaft to a generator.
The energy system of claim 8 wherein said mount fully submerged comprises at least a first top located on said vertical walls, wherein said vertical walls and said first top vertically covers said rotary element.
