Abstract
This invention relates to the conversion of substantially-saturated hydrocarbon to higher-value hydrocarbon products such as aromatics and/or oligomers, to equipment and materials useful in such conversion, and to the use of such conversion for, e.g., natural gas upgrading.
Claims4
A process for producing C5+ hydrocarbon, the process comprising:
- (a) contacting a feed comprising methane with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a first catalyst under conditions effective to oxidatively couple the methane to produce an effluent containing C2+ hydrocarbons and unconverted methane;
- and
- (b) contacting acetylene and at least a portion of the effluent from (a) with a second catalyst comprising at least one molecular sieve and at least one dehydrogenation component under conditions, including a temperature of at least 500° C., effective to convert at least part of the methane and C2+ hydrocarbon in the effluent to a product comprising C5+ hydrocarbon, wherein the contacting is carried out at a molar ratio of the unconverted methane to acetylene ratio in the range of from 0.6:1 to 20:1.
