Abstract
The present invention provides 1,2-benzothiazole compounds particularly useful in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy and other chronic kidney disorders and other diabetic complications.

A compound of the formula:
- or a salt thereof, wherein:
- A is
- R1 and R2 are each independently hydrogen, fluoro, chloro, methyl, or cyano, wherein at least one of R1 or R2 is not hydrogen;
- Z is
- R3, R6, R9, and R10 are each independently hydrogen or methyl;
- R4 and R5 are each independently hydrogen or methyl, or R4 and R5 taken together with the carbon to which they are attached form cyclopropyl;
- and
- R7 and R8 are each independently hydrogen or methyl, or R7 and R8 taken together with the carbon to which they are attached form cyclopropyl;
- wherein at least one of R3, R4, R5, R7, R8, R9, or R10 is not hydrogen.
